We started our day bright and early in beautiful Salt Lake City! We held our event at Publik Coffee Roasters. They were kind to let us hold the summit at their warehouse location. We were greeted by several rue21 volunteers immediately as we drove into the parking lot. Right away, we got to work, setting up all of the accessories, making the goodies bags, and putting together the mobile boutique.
While we set up, many girls began to show up! At final count, 89 girls came to the event! More than we had RSVPs. Needless to say, we were extremely excited. Around 10:15 AM, we started the day to quite a full house. We had a quite an inspiring panel for the girls. Once again, Lisa Lellis joined us on the panel, along with the amazing Baya Voce. She is a local Salt Lake City businesswomen. She has founded two companies, and is devoted to empowering female businesswomen in the area. Highlights from the panel included telling the girls to always keep pushing toward their goals and that is okay to have many passions.
After the panel, we split the girls into two groups. The first group made vision board journals, while the other half shopped at the mobile boutique. The girls were incredibly adorable and loved the clothes. Several of the girls from the same group home mentioned that a few days prior they visited the mall to shop for back-to-school clothing. They saw some adorable clothes in rue21 but could not afford them. The girls ended up going to a thrift store to get back-to-school clothing. They were in shock when they came to Threads for Teens and saw the clothes that they had wanted, but thought they could never have. Thank you so much rue21 for donating many incredible clothes! So many of the girls shared incredible dreams and passions during the time at our stop in Salt Lake City. All of these girls inspired me, needless to say.
This was our second time back in Salt Lake City, the first time we visited in 2013. We can’t wait to visit again, as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone in Salt Lake City who helped to make this event incredible.
XOXO
